Treble Cone is the South Island’s largest ski area offering long and uncrowded groomed slopes, legendary off-piste terrain and unrivalled views over Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps.

Covering 550 hectares, Treble Cone is the largest ski area in the South Island. With the longest vertical rise in the Southern Lakes (705m), longest groomed intermediate runs (4km) and spectacular views over Lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring, Treble Cone can claim some of the most exhilarating skiing and snowboarding conditions in the country. Treble Cone is famous for the long un-crowded groomed slopes, accessed from the Saddle Basin and Home Basin chairlift, legendary off-piste terrain of Motatapu Chutes and Saddle Basin

It is however the snow quality that really sets Treble Cone apart. Renowned for dry powder and plenty of it. Its proximity to the Southern Alps means reliable snow conditions and weather, and its geography means it is protected from the bitterly cold southerly winds.

Spread over three large basins the mountain has trails to suit all ages and skill levels. From the purpose built (free) learner area, long groomed beginner and intermediate trails, challenging advanced runs and ungroomed powder, and infamous natural pipes and chutes, Treble Cone has it all.

Treble Cone Tips:

  1. You are required to carry chains up the access road and fit them if advised
  2. Treble Cone has the perfect affordable beginners package which includes passes, lessons and rentals so exploring the learner slopes and finding your skiing or boarding rhythm is effortless
  3. Grab a multi-day pass (redeemable consecutive or non-consecutive days) and take advantage of the discounted rates.
  4. Treble Cone has an al fresco café at the top of the Home Basin and increased the number of blue groomed trails in the Saddle Basin.
