Now that we are closed the ski area is the backcountry. Natural and man-made hazards exist and are unmarked and unprotected. Snow safety has finished, the snow is uncontrolled. There are no rescue or support services on the ski area or the road, in case of emergency dial 111.
The road is open, the $15 tollgate is operating, and visitors are welcome. Please note that the road is not managed as in winter - see Road Conditions below for more.
The base building area is a construction site this summer, so please walk in the fenced pedestrian area between Carpark 1 and the ski area.
If you are venturing out into the backcountry we encourage you to check the Avalanche Advisory (https://www.avalanche.net.nz/region/10) for the latest conditions and ensure you are prepared and equipped for safe backcountry travel.
