Once upon a time there was a legendary season. Ten thousand dragons stood guard at the Playground of the Gods. They must have taken their eye off the ball for a minute, because 450 mm of rain savagely gouged our access road (while successfully filling our hot tub). The flat-land worshipers wanted to return to the Playground of the Gods, so offered all they could. We moved heaven and earth, a race to the start line, and rebuild the road we did. For the first two weeks the snow flew and the drinks flowed. More games were played - to the tarn we went and curled the stones into the house. The powerful god Zeus came, spouting forth 50cm of soft dry snow. Then SHE who shall not be named, spoke the magic words "stay home, stay safe, be kind". For three weeks we sat and waited, while the mountain minions practiced on the "exercise" pole. Then the day came we were allowed to open the gates, and with new rules in the playground we played once again. The masked groms came in hot for the freeride comp. Six glorious weeks went by, until the gods demanded music, and our President answered, delivering an ancient ivory-keyed artifact to the foot of the mountain. The Health and Safety Officer played to the gods, and they were pleased, delivering another 35cm of cold dry goodness. Our Access Tow outlasted all of the range, as did the field itself, proving that after the challenges of 2021, the Gods had finally been pleased with our little Ski Club. We danced and drank until the snow disappeared and the sun set. Thank you to all our loyal Clubbies and vistors, who made this season one to remember.
